3 Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Kitchen Cabinets
You use your kitchen cabinets a lot. Think about how often you open their doors and the things you stack in them – plates, dishes and drink glasses aren’t light. Over the years they put a lot of stress on your cabinets, and cabinets don’t last a lifetime. Sooner or later it will be time to replace them. Here are three signs your kitchen cabinets are overdue an upgrade.
You’re Remodeling
A kitchen remodel is no small task. It involves ripping up floors, unhanging doors, and removing cabinets. Your existing cabinets aren’t likely to last the process and, even if they do, will you still want them if the rest of your kitchen is brand-new? It’s unlikely they’ll fit with your new design, both aesthetically and logistically. Most people select new cabinets as part of the overall remodeling project.
You’ve Had Water Damage
Floods wreak havoc, and you’re lucky if your kitchen cabinets remain unscathed. If they don’t, you should replace them once you have the all-clear that the structural elements of your kitchen (walls, floors) are sound. Even if you haven’t been through something as extreme as a flood, any severe water damage can pose a problem. Water can lead to wood rot, which will eventually result in warped and unstable cabinets.
Your Cabinet Box is Damaged
A cabinet box no longer stable enough to securely hold its contents or unable to handle the door screws without sagging is past its best. Not only is it an eyesore but, more importantly, it’s unsafe. The last thing you want to happen is for a wall of cabinets to come crashing down on you or someone else in your home.
A kitchen is the heart of any home; it’s the room families use the most, and so it seems only right it gets care and attention (and an upgrade) when it needs it. Transform your kitchen space and give it the makeover it deserves today.
