Granite countertops have been used in kitchens for decades and are wildly popular because of their beauty and durability. Granite is a natural stone that comes in a wide array of colors and patterns to beautifully integrate into any kitchen design. Granite Waterfall Islands

Waterfall islands are a very popular trend in countertops and can be installed with a variety of countertop materials. Granite is a great material for waterfall kitchen islands because it is very durable and can stand up well to wear and heavy use.

Double Thick Granite Countertop Installation

A thick granite slab looks luxurious and exquisite but the thicker the slab of granite, the more it tends to cost. And, there tends to be less variety in the thicker slabs. For this reason, it has become a hot trend to install double-thick granite countertops which achieves the desired look by attaching an additional piece of granite to the end of the countertop to make it look thicker than it is. This requires a skilled and experienced craftsman to carefully hone the granite and attach it with such a precise and discreet seam that it is undetectable to the eye.

Leathered Granite Countertops

Traditionally, granite countertops are highly polished before install and then sealed to protect the integrity of the stone. And, while this creates a beautiful finish, a hot new trend in granite is leathered finish which is granite that has not been polished. The leathered appearance is achieved when you an abrasive, diamond-tipped brush over the surface of honed granite. The subtle, dimpled texture is actually more durable than honed granite.
